Scholarships, Financial Aid and Loans

Scholarships

Bishop Loughlin offers the following scholarships: MARS Scholarships, Loughlin Foundation Scholarships, James P. Dorney Scholarships (established by an anonymous alum), St Augustine Scholarships, Michael Gordon Scholarships, McCartney Scholarships, the Bishop’s Scholarships, the De La Salle Scholarships, and Incentive Scholarship Awards.

Bishop Loughlin awards academic scholarships, academic incentive awards and other need-based academic scholarships to Grade 9 incoming students.  These scholarships are awarded based on the results of the Test for Admission to Catholic High Schools (TACHS) and interviews. Loughlin awards full, half, and partial scholarships.

Financial Aid

There are two ways to obtain financial aid.

1. Grant-in-aid Program

Bishop Loughlin has funded Need-Based Financial Aid of approximately $250,000. These grants are contingent on several sources of funding. The student must be registered in the school in order to be eligible for such assistance. The maximum grant is $1400 per student.

Applications are given out upon registration. It is a two part application and awards are contingent on the application being submitted on time and completed in full. The deadline is May 15th.

Understanding the Grant-in-Aid process and how to fill out the application isn’t easy. That’s why Bishop Loughlin has a Financial Aid Information Night.  We will assist you in filling out the application.  It is usually held in April.  Check the Timeline for the exact date.

2. The Student Sponsor Partnership (SSP)

The Student Sponsor Partnership provides at-risk students in New York City with the opportunity of a quality, non-public high school education, through the financial support and one-to-one guidance of a sponsor.

It is a not-for-profit, non-sectarian program, which offers four-year financial assistance to students. This aid is provided by business community sponsors for qualifying 8th and 9th grade students who are both educationally and economically disadvantaged. Most students come from public schools.

Students are selected by the SSP program and must meet Loughlin's standards of academic achievement and good conduct.

To find out more about the program read the Student Profile and Admissions Process pages on the SSP website. To apply, download the application .

If you have any questions regarding the application and its requirements, please call 212-986-9575.
