Technology

Students need 21st Century skills. Loughlin provides the education in technology they need to understand how to use computers and networks for work, how to use the internet for research, and how to use media in communication.

Loughlin is committed to using technology in the classroom to boost learning and deepen understanding. SMARTBoards, 66” touch-screen computer displays, allow teachers to use media and special computer programs for class participation. Mobile and classroom computer labs are available for one-on-one computer use. There is a full time technology director on staff to help teachers integrate technology into every aspect of learning.

Over 100 computers are available for students use. All computers are connected to our local school network . Wireless service is available throughout the building. Our local network provides students access to printer services and  the library catalog.

A full T-1 line provides high-speed Internet service*  to all computers. To help students with research,  Loughlin purchases  subscriptions to Internet services such as: The Readers Guide to Periodical Literature, Oxford Music Online, the Gale Group Student Resource Pages, and Grolier's Multimedia Encyclopedia.

We at Loughlin are proud to have such extensive facilities available and in use.  We are committed to remaining on the leading edge of using computer technology to enhance the educational experience of our students, and to prepare them for the ever-changing workplace.

We are especially appreciative to Art and Pat Ryan for their $1,000,000 technology grant. Mr. Ryan was the CEO of Prudential Financial. This grant will be used to improve the school’s technology infrastructure, launch this state-of-the-art website, upgrade science labs to make them computer-based, provide extensive training for teachers in the use of technology, and more.

* Internet safety is a concern for all parents. At Loughlin Internet access is filtered to block objectionable content and faculty and staff are present in the library and labs to monitor use. View Loughlin's Internet Policy .
